Dear Christians,

It’s me Leeann, your fellow Christian and friend. We need to talk. I am feeling disheartened, angry, confused and upset.

As a christian are we not taught to love people? Are we not taught to love as Jesus did when he was on Earth? Are the two greatest commandments not to love your God with all your heart, mind and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself?

My job requires me to spend a lot of time on social media. I love it and I hate it. I get to see so many happy people sharing inspiration and motivation. But I also see hate. The worst is when I see hate posted for all the world to see by fellow christians.

We ignore a lot of instances because they don’t fit our agenda. & yes I think everyone has one, obviously myself included. We ignore things like the selection process of embryos that are most likely to survive during fertilely treatments, but we shame women for getting an abortion for what ever reason it may be. We ignore the fact that majority of school shooters are white men under the age of 25, but we claim the LGBTQ+ community is ruining our children. (Not to mention that some parts of the Bible were translated, added to or taken away from to satisfy certain agendas). We slam Disney for same sex kisses or couples, but ignore the fact that the a lot of Disney princesses ages range from 14-19 and multiple are kissed while unconscious and not able to give consent. We also ignore that in Genesis God gave the humans control over the Earth so that they could help it survive and prosper, but we don’t do much to actually take care of this planet.

I could keep going.

I don’t love people as well as I should. I judge. I am impatient. I don’t treat all people with love and compassion. I am acknowledging that. Here’s the thing, I want that to change. I want to love like God and Jesus have taught us to love. At the end of the day you have to realize how important love is.

I am going to try to do better. To love more. To be compassionate to all. & I hope you will too.
